Choose the light setup first
RTL515 makes sense if you want the radar and rear light in one seatpost-mounted device. RVR315 makes sense if you already have a light or prefer to place the light and radar separately. Check mounting space, seatpost shape and clearance to bags or other equipment before choosing.
Choose a compatible display
Radar alerts appear on a compatible receiving device or app. Both models support compatible Edge head units and the Varia phone app; other apps and devices need their own radar support. Confirm your exact receiver, rather than assuming every Bluetooth device can display approaching traffic.
Understand the limit
Radar supplements awareness of vehicles approaching from behind. It is not a substitute for looking, listening and checking traffic before a maneuver. Detection and alerts can be affected by conditions and configuration. Compare battery figures using the stated light modes and charge before a long ride.
